Bellowhead reveal video for new single ‘Roll The Woodpile Down’

Fresh from their victory as winners of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Album, 11-piece folk supergroup Bellowhead reveal their new video for their already incredibly successful single, Roll The Woodpile Down.

It’s no secret that Bellowhead are one of the best live bands around (as their 5 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Best Live Band will attest) and this brand new video showcases the band in their element – live at a sell-out show in Glasgow.

Roll The Woodpile Down is the second single to be taken from the band’s new, Top 20, album Broadside. Vocalist, and arranger, Jon Boden explains a little more about the track:

This is a song I’ve known for ages – I think I first heard it sung in the pub in Durham where I used to hang out...

‘Story flourishes when Bronson uses softer rhythms and allows the writing to take centre stage.’ 7/10 Drowned in Sound

New Video from STRFKR

STRFKR – New LP ’Miracle Mile’
UK Release: April 1st (Polyvinyl)

It’s hard to say exactly when it happened. It could’ve been during one of the 100+ shows STRFKR played over the past two years — ecstatic sold-out dance parties that started in tiny, sweaty rooms before word of mouth spread and forced a move to larger (and even sweatier) venues.

It might’ve been when touring guitarist Patrick Morris officially became a full-time member in late 2011, rounding out a line-up that included multi-instrumentalists Josh Hodges, Shawn Glassford, and Keil Corcoran.

Most likely, though, there wasn’t a single defining moment when the change occurred. With evolution there rarely is...

QUIREBOYS & Bai Bang, Conny Bloom @ The Tivoli 23/2-13

Stor Rock n´ Roll fest på The Tivoli!

Dio – Dream Evil (Deluxe edition)

In May 2010 the world of Hard Rock / Heavy Metal lost one of its most talented stars, with the passing of Ronnie James Dio. During his career he sang for Rainbow and Black Sabbath, as well as his own eponymous band (Dio). With his incredible vocal range he sang some of the real classic songs in rock and metal.

Several of his albums were re-released last year in Deluxe Edition form (‘Holy Diver’, ‘Sacred Heart’ and ‘Last in Line’), and now it’s the turn of ’Dream Evil’. As with the other Dio Deluxe editions, it comes with an expanded booklet with notes by Malcolm Dome and is endorsed by Ronnie’s widow Wendy.

As well as a re-mastered version of the original album, like the other Deluxe editions, this one features a bonus CD with extra material...

Turbogeist – Ancient secrets

London band Turbogeist are releasing a 5 track EP in March, and will be following it later in the year with their debut album. Musically this EP is quite tricky to pin down. There’s a good helping of rock, a strong punk influence, some metal – a really good mix in other words.

The EP features 4 Turbogeist songs as well as a cover of The Wipers song ’Up Front’. It’s a short EP, with a running time of less than fourteen minutes, but that’s down to most of the songs being between 2 and 3 minutes long. The short songs help give the EP a fast punk feel with songs following on quickly from each other. It’s more of an old-school punk sound than a modern pop-punk sound, and that suits me just fine – I think the EP sounds great.

The band’s website and facebook page list the band members by fir...

Mahem 26 januari@Hostile Terrortory, Stavanger

Hostile Terrortory, 24-26 januari, Galeien, Stavanger.

Torsdag 24 januari.
