Epitonic.com is synonomous with helping indie music fans discover new favorite artists through a free and legal offering of over ten thousand downloadable and streamable carefully selected MP3s from top labels and artists from around the world. Last year as the site relaunched, Epitonic began recording live sessions at saki Records, a storefront connected to their office. Named Epitonic saki Sessions, Epitonic has been hosting free and all-ages live sessions and posting the audio and video content as exclusive content weekly. Epitonic and saki have hosted such artists as Maps and Atlases, Murder By Death, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Brokeback, An Horse, Ida, Marissa Nadler, and dozens more.
The most logical next step in the site’s foray into exclusive content was to launch a music label to release and promote some of the world’s best independent artists. The first release from Epitonic’s label (simply named “Epitonic”) is the debut album from Dublin Ireland’s Autumn Owls. Autumn Owls provided Epitonic with an exclusive MP3 for Epitonic’s 2011 relaunch, “Spider” which is on the new album. To get a taste of what to expect from the debut you can now download the band’s Epitonic saki Session recorded earlier this year and features intimate live versions of songs that will appear on the debut.

About Autumn Owls:
Autumn Owls first formed in Dublin in 2007, releasing two well-received EPs in 2008. The next few years found the band touring Europe and the US, performing at festivals such as SXSW, CMJ, Canadian Music Week, NXNE, Postivus, Indiependence and others. After a couple years of touring, the band settled in to demo material for their debut full-length. They took their favorite 12 songs and flew to Chicago in April of this year to record the album with Brian Deck at Engine and Soma Studios. The band is currently running a fundraising/pre-sale campaign on PledgeMusic in order to raise some money for a vinyl run. Purchase options include digital, CD, vinyl, and a number of exclusive and signed items. Any money raised over their modest goal will be split with non-profit group Project Night Night, who organizes gift bags of blankets, books and stuffed animals for children in shelters.

From Epitonic.com president and owner Justin Sinkovich:
“We’ve seen a tremendous response from fans and artists to our exclusive content, producing the live Epitonic saki Sessions. With so many artists self-releasing their own music these days, and with many of labels being more conservative due to the economic challenges of the music industry, what seems to be missing somewhat is the community a label can provide to emerging artists. Labels help collectively curate a sound or aesthetic that music fans can identify and follow. That’s why Epitonic has always featured music specifically categorized by label. Launching a label is one more step towards Epitonic’s mission of community and supporting up-and-coming artists. We are proud to announce the release of the debut album from Autumn Owls, a great band from Dublin, Ireland we’ve become friends with over the past year. It has been thrilling to work with them. Meanwhile we are speaking with several other artists about releases as well and hope to announce more soon.”
