Low Sea release ’Remote Viewing’: ’grey disco’ from Waterford-based synth pop duo

Like a good horror movie director, Low Sea know the real scares are the ones you can only imagine.” – Pitchfork

”Strident, snare-rapping drum machine beats get matched to gliding synth strings, all of which gets distilled down into a three-minute pop gem.” – The Quietus

The sound of Spacemen 3 and Mazzy Star being thrown into the most tranquil ocean leaving the listener pining for the inevitable beautiful songs to emerge from below. This is Low Sea and their album, Remote Viewing, that they appropriately describe as Grey Disco. It is synth pop of a very European nature, shot through with a bolt of blue.

Now based in Ireland, the duo – Bosnian-born Billie and Bobby D from Liverpool – first met while living in the United States...

The lost souls club – EP and tour news

EP Release and tour: High Noon by The Lost Souls Club
Release date: 25 February 2013

“Romeo has a great opening riff and vocal line. The lyrical themes are suitably noir…so they sit alongside bands like The White Stripes and The Black Keys….and look like a junior Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds” – Simon Price, The Independent

“Perfect to soundtrack both wild Friday nights of excess and the gloomy sad Sundays that always follow, the likes of Kiss Away The Sun and Romeo are monochromatic slices of life that retrace and then reinvent those such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Raveonettes who came before them. The guitars are fuzzy, the vocals sleazy, the songs themselves urgent and paranoid, almost as if they’re scared of the impending sunrise. It’s thrilling stuff...

New Video from STRFKR

STRFKR – New LP ’Miracle Mile’
UK Release: April 1st (Polyvinyl)

It’s hard to say exactly when it happened. It could’ve been during one of the 100+ shows STRFKR played over the past two years — ecstatic sold-out dance parties that started in tiny, sweaty rooms before word of mouth spread and forced a move to larger (and even sweatier) venues.

It might’ve been when touring guitarist Patrick Morris officially became a full-time member in late 2011, rounding out a line-up that included multi-instrumentalists Josh Hodges, Shawn Glassford, and Keil Corcoran.

Most likely, though, there wasn’t a single defining moment when the change occurred. With evolution there rarely is...
