THE HELLACOPTERS finns inte längre, men behovet av rökarrock från 70-talet är konstant. Kan det vara detsamma som behovet av färgglada göteborgarna i BURN? Hur som helst så satsar detta enligt eget beslut osignade band hårt, inte minst live. BURN står för alla gamla värderingar och attityder tycks det. Hur tas de emot utan bolagsbacking och hur går det? Vilka är bättre lämpade att svara på det än gitarristen Danny Gold och trmmisen Fredd? Okej grabbar, vem har de snabbaste svaren & den bredaste göteborgskan?

Berätta om plattan, vad besatte er till att skriva ihop denna skiva? Vilka är era främsta inspirationer till vilken låt (musikaliska eller andra)?

Pulverised/Sound Pollution

The cult history of DESULTORY begins in 1994. The origins of the cult are three demos (“From Beyond” (1990), Death Unfolds” (1990) and “Visions” (1991), the EP “Forever Gone” (1990) and the metal Blade albums; “Into Eternity” (1993), “Bitterness” (1994) and “Swallow the Snake” (1996). Then the band split up, or rather evolved into the mighty ZEBULON in 1997. The evolution was very much advertised in the changes on “Swallow the Snake”. Can they change back, the question has its foundation in the fact that today´s DESULTORY is altogether a revamped ZEBULON consisting of; the Morberg brothers, Claes and Håkan on vocals/guitars and guitars respectively, Jojje Bohlin on bass and Thomas Johnson on drums. First on stage tonight are Sandhurst band Primitai. Recently named as one of the bands to watch for 2011 by Classic Rock magazine, this young thrash/metal band take to the stage in front of a half filled venue – the rest of the audience and all the press/photographers are still queueing outside. Once inside it was a quick dash to get photos taken before the end of the bands first song (sadly half the photographers tonight were unable to photograph the band as the door staff’s decision to make them queue with everyone else meant they didnt enter the venue till after the third song, so were refused access to the photo pit.
Once the photos were out of the way I was able to relax and enjoy watching the band...

7Hard/SG Records/Cargo

Italian DREAM OF DECADENCE was formed in 2003 and played covers. From 2005 they started playing in bigger circumstances. In 2007 they swopped a female vocalist for Francesco Valenti. Also in the band are guitarists Riccardo De Fanti and Andrea Giarola, bass player Marco Melegaro and drummer Gianluca Raisi.

The intro is an enigma that doesn´t add anything since this is not a concept album. Modern and original metal has been promised, but I find “The Crow” quite ordinary. No modern mischief but an agreeable voice, good riffs and a melodic touch. Riccardo and Andrea have good bite in the guitars, and this doesn´t sound like a debut, apart from the occasionally un-English sounding vocals...

Eight years ago they were called EXODIAIN and played covers of DREAM THEATER, DEEP PURPLE, PAIN OF SALVATION, ANGRA etc. Since 2007 SILVER LAKE is a band in their own right, plus augmented by guests like Simone Mularoni (EMPYRIOS, DGM), Gabriele Ravagliaand and Michele Luppi (VISION DIVINE, KILLING TOUCH). Are they ready to acquire fans?

Italians the American way, that sounds like a spaghetti western movie. But that is definitely not the sound of the keyboard tinged “Before the Storm”. Davide Bertozzi´s voice is quite light and, yes, Italian. The general feeling is that of the eighties, soft and pleasant. The production may not be top-notch, but it is perfectly alright...

Artist: Lou Siffer and the howling demons
Album: The Devil’s ride (självsläpp)
Genre: Rock n’ roll

Om Danzig, Misfits och Mustasch fick ett barn skulle det nog låta ungefär såhär. Det här är en intressant utmanare inom Svensk rock som för med sig lite mer till bordet än vad tidigare band gjort. Lou Siffer and the howling demons är nämligen så mycket mer än bara ytterligare ett rock n’ rollband.

”The Devil’s ride” har en väldigt bra variation av låtar, de är coola, svängiga, rockiga, mörka, punkiga och alla har en stor portion glimten i ögat. Det är så självklart på något sätt; cool, välspelad rock n’ roll med rätt attityd.
Sången för direkt tankarna till Glenn Danzig, om det är meningen eller ej vet jag inte men det är helt rätt och kompletterar mu...

Burn Music Adventure/Triada Promotion

Sveriges bästa liveband? Så vill BURN bli kända, och de har haft den ambitionen sedan 2007. De vill blanda ALICE COOPER med THE WHO, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, MC5 m.fl. Allt för att skapa ett sound med gammaldags energi. Hoppas detta är inspelat live i studion!

”C´mon C´mon let´s get it started” kommer det med inlevelse från sångaren/basisten Pirata. Det är inledningen på en sjuttiotalsdoftande KISS-anrättning. Diverse andra band skymtar i mixen men det är Paul Stanley jag ser framför mig. Göteborgare brukar spela dödsmetall men här är det bara liveanpassad Rock´n´Roll. ”The Wrestler” har klockrena Peter Criss-takter i inledningen, och det fullständigt sprutar 70-tal ur lurarna, skägg och utsvängda byxor likaså...

Massacre/Sound Pollution

German seven-piece NACHTGESCHREI hereby release third album with their mix of mediaeval rock/metal/folk. Since 2008 the Frankfurt band has made three albums and played festivals like Paganfest and Ragnarock, sharing the stage with bands like KORPIKLAANI and ENSIFERUM. What can possibly be boring about them?

This is rock with an odd dimension already in the first track “An Mein Ende”. Hotti has a soft and agreeable voice, a bit of a German Bob Catley, but I detect mostly traditional features in the music itself. What´s good with that is that there are not bits and pieces of black metal, no hysteric drumming or general calamity. German lyrics are not a plus in Sweden, but ethnic parts are mostly a good way...

Album: Der Wald ist mein Zuhause (självsläpp)
Genre: Green/black/death/grind metal

“Der Wald ist mein Zuhause” släpptes för ett år sedan i Tyskland och har nu på något oförklarligt sätt nått media i Sverige.

Tyrael bildades år 2000 och det förvånar mig att en band som varit verksamt i tio år inte låter bättre än såhär. Uppenbarligen har de en förkärlek till skogen, därav genren ”green metal”, och albumtiteln som på Svenska säger ”Skogen är mitt hem”. Och det är ju rart, att de uppskattar moder jord. Men det känns inte som att det finns någon naturlig musikalisk talang här, låtarna är underligt komponerade och stundtals vet jag inte om det här är seriöst eller inte. Det kan vara förklaringen till att de fortfarande är osignade.

Napalm/Sound Pollution

Nature mysticism, Swedish legends, magic melodies and traditional mediaeval instruments are the foundation of FEJDS sound. They dedicate themselves to clean vocals by Patrick Rimmerfors, and want to paint a picture of a travelling musician by a fire. Patrick does not only handle vocals, but also a host of exotic and old-fashioned instruments, while his brother Niklas handles the keyed fiddler. In 2001 they joined forces with bass player Thomas Antonsson, keyboard player/guitarist Lennart Specht and drummer Esko Salow, all of Swedish band PATHOS. Everyone of them have their roots in metal, but shares an interest in folk music. A variety of gigs and demos was followed by their debut “Storm” in 2008.
