Festivalphoto: You’re currently on a promotional tour to promote your new album, ”Money sex and Power”, and have just done a great acoustic set here at the Crobar in London.

Kissin’ Dynamite: It’s actually our first international promo tour and we’re here in ENgland for one day, tomorrow Stockholm and the day after we have two days in Paris

An interview with Jake Morley

Festivalphoto: Your debut album, Many Fish To Fry, is due out at the beginning of April. Can you tell us a bit about the album?

Jake: First albums are a bit like the first question of an interview or the first time you meet someone. You don’t know each other yet and just want to introduce yourself and hopefully make a connection. If you get a little space and encouragement you splurge out every corner of your brain with each other, and that’s kind of what I’ve done with Many Fish To Fry. I’m pleased it’s made so many connections cos it’s allowed me to meet so many people, do so many gigs and generally make the world feel a little smaller for me. That was probably the biggest reason I wanted to make it in the first place so…. result.

Festivalphoto: Was making the album a long...

An interview with Dripback

Ant May from Festivalphoto grabbed a quick word with two of the guys from Dripback just after their performance at Hammerfest.

Festivalphoto: OK you’ve just played on the third stage here at Hammerfest. How did you enjoy that?

Dripback: We’ve literally just come off stage, changed clothes and then come straight up here. Yeah it was super cool really, we had a good sound, we had our old faithfull Russ Russell doing the sound for us. Nice vibe as well. Haven’t really done much this year so its been nice man. We did the Biohazard tour but it was a bit short though. It’s been a nice start to the year so far and this place was cool.

Festivalphoto: Adam has had a nightmare trip to get here, having only flown back to the UK this morning – how did he manage to stay awake for the show?

An interview with Serenity.

I spoke to Georg Neuhauser and Thomas Buchberger from Serenity in their dressing room before their headline show at the Underworld in Camden, London on 25th March 2012. Pythia singer Emily Ovenden who was also in the dressing room and who I know well, joined in at times with a few comments starting moments after I walked into the dressing room.

Emily: Don’t tell him anything, he’s a troublemaker !

Festivalphoto: Your current album, Death and Legacy came out last year. How has the album been going down with fans?

Georg: First of all, the reactions were great...

An Interview with The Answer

Ant May from Festivalphoto spoke to Paul Mahon, guitarist with The Answer shortly before their gig at Rock City in Nottingham earlier this month.

Festivalphoto: You’re currently on tour with The Union. Are there any gigs or festival appearances planned for later in the year.

Paul: At the moment its mainly European festivals, and then we’ll see whether it’s Download or Sonisphere, that’s the big question this summer.

Festivalphoto: Any preference which you’d like to play?

Paul: Happy to do either. We did Sonisphere last summer, really good, very refreshing. I think with Download it’s getting very mainstream, I think maybe they’re trying to cater to too many different tastes...

An interview with The Mariana Hollow

Festivalphoto spoke to Rebecca Spinks, singer with The Mariana Hollow, before they played supporting Pythia at the Borderline in London on 29th February.

Festivalphoto: Ok for anyone who hasnt listened to The Mariana Hollow before, how would you describe your music?

Rebecca: I’d describe it as alternative metal/rock. There’s definitely a melodic edge to our music so we like to write songs that people can listen to and remember. It’s fairly dark, some people say it reminds them of the sea

Festivalphoto: Your new album, Velvet Black Sky has just been released (although I keep mis-saying it as Black Velvet sky).

Rebecca: I keep doing that as well to be honest.

Festivalphoto: Where did the album title come from?

Rebecca: To be honest I was reading a book and it was just a few of the words i...

An interview with Jettblack

Festivalphoto spoke to Will Stapleton from Jettblack before the bands performance at the Relentless Garage in London.

Festivalphoto: Your debut album (Get your hands dirty) came out in 2010. When can we expect a second album?

Will: Its planned for May time. There’s no specific date yet, but that’s what we’re heading for. We’ve got a single coming out two or three weeks before that as well.

Festivalphoto: Is there a title for the album yet?

Will: There is but for some reason we haven’t told anyone yet. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say it, I don’t know why not. It’s still being decided but we’ll announce that pretty soon.

Festivalphoto: How would you say the new album differs from the first one?

Will: Not by a lot. It’s still definitely us. There’s more diversity in a random way...

An interview with The Treatment

Festivalphoto spoke to Matt Jones (Vocals) and Dhani Mansworth (Drums) from The Treatment shortly before they went on stage at The Garage in London to play on a bill with fellow Spinefarm bands Jettblack, and Reckless Love as part of the HMV Next Big Thing event.

Festivalphoto: Your debut album (This might hurt) came out at the beginning of 2011 on Powerage records then was re-released a few months later on Spinefarm. What prompted the move to Spinefarm?

Dhani: The thing with Powerage, the whole idea behind the label was a kind of stepping stone, so we signed to them to get an album out and distributed, and stayed with them until another label was interested in us, which was Spinefarm who saw us on the Powerage tour we did, so we signed to Spinefarm and re-released the album with them.

Imbalance – Brutal Thrash from Norway

Quality thrash metal is not something that many people would expect to emerge from the Norwegian realm, yet, the guys playing under the name of Imbalance have delivered an outstanding full album until today, with a fresh pressed one to be released in few days. For an interesting fact, the new release will only be physically available on vinyl, else digitally shared. In order to find out the story behind their brutal and very technical sound, I had a chat with the band’s vocalist, bass player and text writer, Harald Eilertsen who delivered a brief history of the band, an insight in their song writing process and their skills, plus some personal thoughts on various aspects of today’s music industry...
