An Interview with Outloud

Festivalphoto recently managed to interview Chandler Mogel, the Singer with Greek band Outloud following the release of their new album, ”Love Catastrophe”

Festivalphoto: Hi Chandler… You’ve just released your new album, “Love Catastrophe” through AOR Heaven… Can you tell us a bit about the songs on the album?

Chandler: “Yes, sure!! The album came out right at the end of July, and the songs are a little more structured and a little more mature this time around. We went for more of a melodic rock approach this time, and we’re all really happy with the way it turned out.”

“It’s hard to pick just one song, but some of my favorites are “Isolation Game”, “Live Again”, “Clean Hands” and the title “Love Catastrophe” itself...

Amorphis Interview at Tuska 2011

The Finnish metallers from Amorphis have recently released an album called ’The Beginning of Times’, which they are touring to promote now. As they performed on the festival’s main stage, on the last day of Tuska 2011 I had the opportunity for a short chat with Amorphis’ bass player, Niclas Etelävuori. It was a really hectic day so it all ended up in a fast dialogue, but I am thankful to Niclar for his time.

Me: How is it going with you guys? How’s life for the band?
NE: Busy, but good
Me: What does busy mean? Just concerts? recording anything? You just had a new release afterall..
NE: We only do shows now. We’ve been doing festivals for two months now almost every week.
Me: How long is this planned to go on? Any outside Europe concerts?
NE: In early June we played in Japan and Taiwan.

Alestorm Riding the Storm

ALESTORM Riding the Storm Interview

There are bands who struggle for ages, and there are the ones going places fast. It seems like yesterday, in reality since 2006, or, in the public eye, since 2008. That was probably the first time anyone outside of Scotland heard of this lot. How do you go from a Scotch entity as well hidden as Brora single malt to being cuddly favorites in THE US and New Zeeland? Who better to get us up to date than vocalist keyboard player Christopher Bowes? Ok, I pass the rum…

FP: Please describe the new album in detail. Is “Death Throes of the Terrorsquid” a glimpse of the future, or how did that song come about?

Chris B: It’s a glimpse of the past, really! I wrote that song when I was about 14 years old, but I wasn’t in a band that was capable of playing it, ...

-Fingerpaint… and fingerpain.

Mycket spelningar verkar det som, stora. Sweden rock tillexempel.

An interview with Kobra and the Lotus

Kobra and the lotus are an up and coming Canadian band that is currently touring the UK. The band are being chased by major record labels, so if you haven’t heard anything by them before then its only a matter of time before you do – this band is going to be big !
Festivalphoto caught up with the band before their show at the Man on the moon, Cambridge and spoke to singer Brittany Paige.

Festivalphoto: When did the band form and how?

Brittany: The band started I guess back in 2008 was when Kobra and the Lotus started, but the project began when I searched for people to play with basically and that was 2006 I believe. I put out an Ad looking for two guitar players, and I found Chris and our original guitar player Matt online...

Interview with Jørgen Munkeby of Shining (Norway)

Formed as a jazz quartet in 1999 by saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Jørgen Munkeby together with fellow students from the Norwegian Academy of Music, Shining is a band who quickly caught the eye of music lovers by always pushing the boundaries and having a very daring approach to combining a variety of elements.

For their first release, Where the Ragged People Go, a description such as modern acoustic jazz might fit. The same idea on the second one, Sweet Shanghai Devil, but this time with more elements brought from outside the jazz genre or even inside, but more experimental than classic.

Without leaving aside their jazz roots, Shining’s sound started to blend progressive rock in the tunes of their next album, In the Kingdom of Kitsch You Will Be a Monster...

Judas Priest Presskonferens @ Sweden Rock Festival 2011

Judas Priest Presskonferens

Intervju Seventribe

Tomas ”Witchfinder” Ericson – Guitar and Lead Vocals
Kongo ”K. Lightning” Magnéli – Lead Guitars and Vocals
Philip ”Inquisitor” Svennefeldt – Bass and Vocals
Oscar ”O. Thunder” Rolfsson – Drums and Percussion

Stormwarrior The Warrior Conquers All Interview

STORMWARRIOR The Warrior Conquers All!

German Vikings? Never heard of? Well, think again, because the latest and most successful Viking pillage tour hails from our Teutonic neighbors. Band leader Lars Ramcke and then drummer Andre Schumann raised the banner the first time back in 1998, inspired by the metal scene of the 1980´s, not least German bands like RUNNING WILD and HELLOWEEN. And who better to tell of the current battle status within the Viking camp than Lars himself, hail battle swordsman, what news bring ye?

FP: Please describe the new album; the process, the studio sessions, the concept (?), and your favorite moments

-“Heathen Warrior” is definitely the most “grown-up-sounding” album STORMWARIOR have done so far...
